If you’re going camping, you may find that all you need for your camping cookware is one dutch oven. Here are some great Dutch Oven one-pot recipes to get you started.
Eggs Frittata
One dozen eggs
1 container chopped mushrooms
Cheese (as desired)
Onion, garlic and desired seasonings
Options: Diced potatoes, crumbled bacon or sausage (or both), sweet peppers or green pepper.
Blend eggs, mushrooms, and cheese with onions, garlic, and desired seasonings add in any options mentioned above.
Place this into a well seasoned dutch oven and place the lid on the dutch oven.
Set the dutch oven in the coals of the campfire and check it in about 20 to 30 minutes for doneness.
When it’s done, your one pot meal is served. Ideal for breakfast or dinner or even for a brunch.
Oatmeal For A Crowd
Place 2 cups oatmeal in the bottom of a well seasoned dutch oven.
Place 1 and 1/4 cups of milk over the top of this.
Place 1 and 1/4 cups of greek yogurt over the milk.
The next layer should be any of the following:
Grated carrot, strawberries, oranges, lemon rind, blueberry, your favorite jam (with fresh fruit if desired).
Use a layer of honey, maple syrup or brown sugar to sweeten.
Add a pinch of salt.
Add in any vanilla or flavoring is using.
Place lid on top and set into coals for about 15 to 20 minutes and serve warm.
Stew
Place a layer of carrots in the bottom of your well seasoned dutch oven. Top this with the following in the order they are written:
Potatoes, onion, garlic, celery, any other veggies desired (all root vegetables should go in the layer with the carrots except the potatoes which cook faster).
Place your meat of choice on the next layer. Season your meat and add in one soup can of water if desired.
Simmer this in the coals all day and serve warm at dinner time.
These one pot meals are ideal for camping and other times when you need a one pot meal.
